Maariv quoted a “senior” Israeli source as saying Wednesday negotiations are taking place between Israel and Germany which are in an “advanced” stage at present.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are expected to agree on the deal’s details on Jan 18, the source said.

The submarines are capable of firing cruise missiles from the sea, enabling Israel to respond in case of nuclear attack.
