Israel is negotiating with Germany to buy a new submarine, Dolphin
class, able to fire nuclear missiles, the Maariv Israeli daily reported
here.

Maariv quoted a “senior” Israeli source as saying Wednesday
negotiations are taking place between Israel and Germany which are in
an “advanced” stage at present.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are expected to agree on
the deal’s details on Jan 18, the source said.

The submarines are capable of firing cruise missiles from the sea, enabling Israel to respond in case of nuclear attack.
